FE fundinfo’s Alpha Manager ‘Hall of Fame’ 2025 revealed

Three new active fund managers join the coveted ‘Hall of Fame’ for the first time this year.

FE fundinfo, the leading financial data company connecting the investment industry across the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific, today announced three active fund managers have entered the ‘Hall of Fame’ list for the first time in 2025. The list recognises managers who have been ‘Alpha-rated’ for seven years or more, and this year the list features 41 managers.

The new entrants include Franz Weis from Comgest, Richard Hodges from Nomura, and Stephen Yiu from Blue Whale Capital.

Alpha Manager ratings recognise the top 10 percent of UK retail-facing managers, based on their entire career performance. The rating is built around three key components: risk-adjusted alpha, consistency of outperformance versus their benchmark, and performance in both rising and falling markets. Managers with longer track records of delivering strong performance receive additional weighting to reflect the value of their experience and resilience through market cycles.

The ‘Hall of Fame’ is reserved for those who have retained Alpha Manager status for seven years or more, representing a rare combination of skill, stability and success in delivering long-term returns for investors.

Several well-known names have maintained their place in the Hall of Fame this year, continuing to set the benchmark for sustained excellence in fund management. These include Claudia Calich from M&G, James Thomson from Rathbones, David Dudding from Columbia Threadneedle, and Leon Grenyer from Morgan Stanley.

Janus Henderson has the most fund managers in the 2025 Hall of Fame, with three managers. Fidelity, Jupiter, Morgan Stanley, Marlborough, M&G, Premier Miton, and Veritas each have two representatives.

Charles Younes, Deputy Chief Investment Officer, FE fundinfo, said, “The Alpha Manager Hall of Fame recognises those whose performance is not only impressive, but enduring. These managers have weathered multiple market regimes, from the global financial crisis to COVID-19 and more recent geopolitical upheavals, while delivering consistent, risk-adjusted returns. Their ability to outperform in both calm and volatile conditions makes them exceptional. We extend our congratulations to all of this year’s honourees.”
